The Life Coach School - Brooke Castillo

This morning started with a powerful reminder that we have the ability to positively influence those around us.

I am working with my students to begin to own their abilities and their accomplishments. My goal is to build their confidence so that when challenges arise, they KNOW they have strengths and skills that will get them through the obstacle(s) they face.

This morning, I worked on positive outlook with my Restorative Justice team at school. It is Monday morning. It is 7:35 am. We are all busy and have a million things we want to do before our students arrive at 8:15 am. It is easy to let our thinking spiral into negative patterns. I opened our circle with some upbeat pop music we moved/danced/walked around to and considered the following:

What was the best part of your weekend?

After 10 seconds of music and moving, we stopped and shared our thoughts with whomever was near us. As the facilitator, I participated, then stepped back to watch. I saw smiles. I saw teachers connect and stand a little taller. The second question to consider while wandering was:

What are you most looking forward to this week?

Again, I saw smiles. I saw connection. I heard upbeat voices and laughter.

What my RJ crew didn't know was that I was being very specific with the questions and tuning their minds to positive thoughts and positive possibilities. We had some honest conversations where thoughts were shared in a trusting, authentic way.

I hope my crew was as energized as I was at the end of our time together. Mindset works. Change our mindset, change our outlook, change our results.
